Fans have been counting down the days until June 2025 ever since RM, Suga, V, Jimin, and Jung Kook joined the South Korean military, making them the last members of BTS to do so. Jin and j-hope had joined months earlier.
That’s because, after 18 months of mandatory service, the last five Bangtan Boys will have finished their duties to their country and will be free to go back to normal life with their bandmates. They will also be able to keep their promise to get back together as a septet more than two years after Jin joined the military in December 2022. It has been five years since BTS’s last proper studio album, Be, came out. The album debuted at the top of the Billboard 200 and made the group an instant crossover superstar. Two songs from the album, “Dynamite” and “Life Goes On,” became No. 1 hits on the Billboard Hot 100, paving the way for “Permission to Dace” and “Butter” to later do the same.
But even though having to take a break at the height of their success should have slowed them down, all seven bandmates were able to keep things going by putting out solo albums while they were apart. As a solo artist, each member of the group has had the chance to make their mark on the world through songs, EPs, full-length albums, and collaborations with other big names. As a result, they have all grown as artists and become stronger.
ARMY only wants to know what comes next. There is no way to know what will happen with BTS after they get back together, and not much information has been released about how the return will work. But some band members have talked about what the future holds for them. Whatever it is, it will be interesting.
