According to Julión Álvarez’s team, his show at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas, on Saturday has been pushed back because he couldn’t get into the United States.
Álvarez, the show’s producer CMN, and his management/booking company, Copar Music, said in a statement on May 23 that he was “unable to enter the United States in time for the event due to unforeseen circumstances.”
“With almost 50,000 tickets already sold, this sold-out show was sure to be a night that fans would never forget,” they added. Along with Julión’s team, CMN and Copar Music are working hard to move the show as soon as possible. Julión Álvarez wants to thank all of his fans for their understanding and continued support. He is very much looking forward to seeing all of his Texas friends again soon.
An Álvarez video message on Instagram went on to say that his work visa had been revoked. In this case, we can’t change anything. It’s what I know and what I can share.
The regional Mexican star, famous for hits like “Póngamonos de Acuerdo” and “Te Hubieras Ido Antes,” came back to the US in April and played three historic shows at SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles that were all sold out.
Álvarez performed in the U.S. again at the L.A. shows, eight years after the U.S. Treasury Department charged the singer with money laundering and drug trafficking on August 10, 2017. this was the start of a court process. Companies in the U.S. turned down the singer from Chiapas because of this, and he couldn’t perform on stages in this country. His social media accounts were also shut down.
As of May 2022, the charges were dropped, and Alvarez told the press that everything was “cleared up.” His three shows in L.A. and one in Texas this year got him ready for his planned 4218 Tour in the U.S., but the dates of the tour hadn’t been chosen yet.
It’s not clear why Álvarez wasn’t able to enter the U.S., but this news comes at a time when foreign artists have been having trouble getting visas, which has affected a few Mexican acts and events. This month, Michelada Fest in Chicago had to be delayed because artists weren’t sure if they could get visas.
In today’s press release, it says that tickets bought before “will be honored for the new date,” but if someone can’t make it to the new show, “refund details will be provided.”
