Floral tributes left for Ozzy Osbourne at the Black Sabbath Bridge have been mulched to be spread at the rock legend’s final resting place

Even in death, Ozzy Osbourne remains close to the hearts of his fans. After the legendary heavy metal frontman passed away from a heart attack on July 22 at the age of 76, thousands of mourners gathered to pay tribute at Birmingham’s iconic Black Sabbath Bridge — a landmark that honors his legacy in his hometown.

In the days following his passing, the massive outpouring of flowers, personal notes, photos, and memorabilia left at the site has been carefully preserved and documented. According to a touching video shared by the Central Birmingham Business Improvement District (BID), all items from the Black Sabbath Bridge and the nearby Navigation Street mural were respectfully collected and moved to a secure location for sorting.

“Our team has sorted the items ready to be sent to the Osbourne family. Thank you again to everyone who took the time to pay their respects,” read the caption on the BID’s post.

The video shows a warehouse floor covered with neatly arranged bouquets, each one placed with care by BID staff. Workers in high-visibility vests are seen gently handling every item — from floral arrangements and hand-drawn portraits to Black Sabbath t-shirts, Aston Villa scarves, and even plush bat toys. “Every piece is being laid out individually, cataloged and treated with care,” one on-screen caption notes.

The tribute collection also includes handwritten letters, framed fan art, and memorabilia reflecting Ozzy’s enduring influence. Another caption explains that the team is working diligently to preserve everything “in the best possible condition,” creating a digital archive of the tributes that will be shared with the Osbourne family.

In a heartfelt gesture, floral tributes left for Ozzy Osbourne at the Black Sabbath Bridge have been mulched to be spread at the rock legend’s final resting place, symbolizing a full-circle return to the earth. The composted flowers will be taken to his burial site, where they’ll be used to enrich the soil — a tribute as lasting as his legacy.

On July 30, during his funeral in Birmingham, Osbourne’s cortege made its final pass across Black Sabbath Bridge, allowing fans one last moment of connection. His final performance took place just weeks earlier at the “Back to the Beginning” charity concert. He was later laid to rest in a private ceremony surrounded by close family and friends at his Buckinghamshire estate.

Ozzy may be gone, but the love from his fans — now immortalized in both memory and soil — ensures his spirit will forever remain grounded in the place he called home.
