Metallica Reveals Intimate NYC Concert and Responds to Las Vegas Sphere Rumors

Metallica is giving fans a rare chance to catch them up close and personal with one of the smallest shows of their legendary career — and they’re also weighing in on buzz about a possible Las Vegas residency.

As they gear up for the final leg of their massive 2025 M72 World Tour — which includes stops in Australia, New Zealand, Bahrain, and the United Arab Emirates — the metal legends have announced an exclusive one-night-only performance in New York later this month.

A Rare, Intimate Show in Long Island

Metallica Reveals Intimate NYC Concert and Responds to Las Vegas Sphere Rumors as they prepare to perform at Stephen Talkhouse in Amagansett, Long Island on August 28. With a capacity of just 250, the venue is a dramatic shift from the stadiums the band typically plays — making this one of their most intimate concerts ever.

The special gig, hosted by SiriusXM, celebrates the launch of the new Maximum Metallica channel, which will go live the following day. Tickets won’t be sold to the public — instead, they’re being offered through exclusive contests held by both Metallica and SiriusXM.

Addressing the Las Vegas Sphere Speculation

Alongside the exciting concert news, Metallica drummer Lars Ulrich appeared on The Howard Stern Show to address recent rumors about the band potentially booking a residency at the state-of-the-art Sphere in Las Vegas.

The speculation, originally reported by Vital Vegas, suggests the band could take over the futuristic venue for a run of shows in the fall of 2026. When asked about it, Ulrich neither confirmed nor denied the reports.

“There’s nothing to confirm,” he told Stern. “But I’m not going to deny it, because we’re all such fans of this venue. All of our managers and production crew have been there and looked at it. It’s definitely something we’re considering — but nothing is green-lit yet.”

He continued, “I saw U2 play there on the first night. I wanted to experience it in person before I saw any clips online. I was blown away. It felt like a new chapter in live performance. I’m not going to bullsh-t you — I would f–king love to do it.”

What’s Next for Metallica?

The band’s current world tour, in support of their album 72 Seasons, will continue through the rest of 2025 and into 2026. After wrapping up in Australia and New Zealand this November, Metallica will head to Bahrain and the UAE, before closing out the tour in Europe and the U.K. by July 2026.

Whether or not they end up at the Sphere after that remains to be seen — but one thing is clear: Metallica Reveals Intimate NYC Concert and Responds to Las Vegas Sphere Rumors with excitement, possibility, and a continued drive to break new ground in the live music scene.
